Family to family support programs for the caregivers of schizophrenia patients

Abstract
Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric disorder that poses challenges and burden for both patient and family. Families of individuals with schizophrenia primarily responsible for the the care of patient. Therefore schizophrenia is stresful not only for patients, but also for family members. Families need information and support for cope with their stresful situation. The family to family support programs are peer support programs structured for families of patients with schizophrenia. This review introduced that family to family support programs which is a new application for our country.
Özet
Şizofreni hastalığı hem hasta hem de aile için yükü ve güçlükleri olan kronik bir hastalıktır. Şizofreni hastalarının bakımından çoğunlukla birinci derecede sorumlu olan ailedir. Bu nedenle şizofreni hastalığı sadece hasta için değil aile içinde stresli bir durumdur. Şizofreni hastalarının aileleri yaşadıkları stresli durumla baş edebilmek için bilgi ve desteğe ihtiyaç duymaktadırlar. Aileden aileye destek programları şizofreni hastalarının aileleri için yapılandırılmış akran destek programlarıdır. Bu derlemede ülkemiz için yeni bir uygulama olan aileden aileye destek programları tanıtılmıştır.
