Marital satisfaction among a group of physicians in Kocaeli

Abstract

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship of some sociodemographic and work-related variables to marital satisfaction among the physicians. The sample consisted of 107 physicians who worked in Kocaeli. The Marital Satisfaction Inventory (MSI) were used. As a result, the physicians whose spouses was physicians too, had higher scores of MSI, but the physicians who smoked had lower scores of MSI. Other investigated variables were not found to be related to marital satisfaction.

Özet

Çalışmanın amacı hekimlerde evlilik doyumu ile kimi sosyodemografik ve işle ilgili değişkenlerin ilişkisini araştırmaktır. Çalışmaya Kocaeli'nde çalışan 107 evli hekim katılmıştır. Çalışmada Evlilik Yaşamı Ölçeği (EYÖ) kullanılmıştır. Sonuçta eşi de hekim olan hekimlerin EYÖ puanlarının daha yüksek, sigara kullanan hekimlerin ise EYÖ puanlarının daha düşük olduğu belirlenmiştir. İncelenen diğer değişkenler evlilik doyumu ile ilişkili bulunmamıştır.
