Abstract
During the last six years, especially from April to June, many people with skin lesion dermatitis problems referred to dermatology outpatient clinic. This study was done to determine the insect species that causes dermatitis according to information taken from patients and insect samples brought by the patients. It was determined that the insect species causing dermatitis (contact dermatitis, herpes zoster, bullous impetigo, phytophotocontact dermatitis) in Adana region was Paederus fuscipes. This species run away from the light during the day and enter to cavities at trees and to slits of walls in houses and during the night, they go out from the places in which they hide and become active. In the study P. fuscipes was experimentally tested whether it causes this type of dermatitis experimentally. For this experiment 10 mice (Albino) and 7 rats (Wistar) were used. Abdominal hairs of these animals were shaved and then separated into four groups. For the first group, two P. fuscipes in a tube were applied to the abdomen of the animals. For the second group, one P. fuscipes was crushed and then applied to each of the animals. For the third group, two P. fuscipes we crushed and then applied to each of the animals. For the fourth group, control group, no application was made. According to our observations in the second and third group, dermatitis formation began as white swellings after 6th hour. In the first 1-2 days, the skin turned to red and liquid accumulation was observed in the epithelial tissue. After the 3th day, the skin began to dry and the healing completed in the 14-25th days.. Comparison of experimental dermatitis and the dermatitis in the patients showed that there were big similarities between them and the healing periods were the same.
