The views of biology education seniors and graduates on formation courses (1,5 year) related to accreditaion program on knowledge and application aspects of biology teaching and gaining features of professional teachers

Abstract

Educational reform attempt to teacher education for secondary schools in Turkey is in its 10th year. Evaluation of effects of the reform studies from different points is very important for Turkish educational system. Accordingly, aim of this study is determined as to evaluate the accreditation in terms of some aspects. In this study, survey method was used. The data collection tool of this study was a constructed interview form. This form was constructed by asking the point of views of field experts. The sample of this study included 89 participants. The universe of this study consists of students graduated from biology education program(3,5+1,5) and biology education seniors. In this study, paticapants stated that the formation courses taken effected very positively knowledge and application aspects of biology teaching and were very effective on gaining features of professional teacher.

Özet

Türkiye’de ortaöğretime öğretmen yetiştiren kurumlarda, 1998 yılında yapılan reformun üzerinden 10 yıl geçmiştir. Reformun değerlendirilmesi, Türk Eğitim Sistemi açısından oldukça önemlidir. Buradan hareketle, yeniden yapılanmayı, belirli boyutlar açısından değerlendirmek, bu çalışmanın amacını oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışma betimsel bir çalışmadır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak, yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın örneklemini, 89 kişi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın evrenini ise 2004-2005 eğitim-öğretim yılında, 3,5+1,5 yıllık biyoloji öğretmenliği bölümünde son sınıf öğrencisi olarak öğrenim gören ve bu dönemden önce, bu programdan mezun olmuş olan öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, formasyon derslerinin biyolojinin uygulama (laboratuvar) ve alan bilgisi boyutları üzerine olumlu bir etkiye sahip olduğu ve öğretmenlik mesleğinin gerektirdiği nitelikleri kazandırmada etkili olduğu sonucu ortaya çıkmaktadır.
