Repellent Effect of Fungatol and Gamma-T-ol Extracts Derived from Melaleuca alternifolia (Myrtaceae) against Tetranychus urticaeKoch (Acari: Tetranychidae) under Laboratory Conditions

Abstract
In this study, the repellent effect of five different concentrations of Fungatol and Gamma-T-ol extracted from Melaleuca alternifolia (Myrtaceae) known as Tea tree against T. urticaewas determined using leaf dipping method under laboratory conditions. In laboratory tests, the leaf discs (5cm diameter) taken from bean (Phaseolus vulgarisL.) were dipped in five different concentrations (1.25, 1.90, 2.20, 2.50 and 3.50%) of Fungatol and (0.25, 0.50, 1.00, 1.50 and 3.60%) of Gamma-T-ol for 5 s. The results were recorded after 2, 6, 24, 48 and 72 hours by counting the number of adults present on each half of the leaf discs. The tests were repeated five times. After 2, 6, 24, 48 and 72 hours, the repellent effect of 3.50% concentration of Fungatol againstT. urticae was determined 92.0, 81.3, 71.3, 56.3, 54.9 and 3.60% concentration of Gamma-T-ol against T. urticae was determined 83.1, 79.5, 71.1, 65.7, 55.9%;repectively.Consequently, Fungatol and Gamma-T-olshowed the high repellent effect against T. urticaeunder laboratory conditions.

Bu çalışmada Çay ağacı olarak bilinen Melaleuca alternifolia (Myrtaceae)'dan elde edilen Fungatol ve Gamma-T-ol ekstraktlarının 5 farklı konsantrasyonunun laboratuar koşullarında Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae)'ye karşı repellent etkisi yaprak disk daldırma yöntemi kullanılarak belirlenmiştir. Laboratuar testlerinde fasulye (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) bitkilerinden alınan 5 cm çapındaki yaprak diskleri Fungatol (%1,25, 1,90, 2,20, 2,50, 3,50) ve Gamma-T-ol (%0,25, 0,50, 1,00, 1,50, 3,60) ekstraktlarının farklı konsantrasyonlarına 5 sn boyunca daldırılmıştır. Sonuçlar 2, 6, 24, 48 ve 72 saat sonra yaprak diskinin her iki yarısında bulunan erginler sayılarak kayıt edilmiştir. Testlerde 5 tekerrür kullanılmıştır. Laboratuar testleri sonucunda Fungatol %3.50 konsantrasyonunun T. urticae'ye karşı repellent etkisi 2, 6, 24, 48 ve 72 saat sonra sırasıyla %92,0, 81,3, 71,3, 56,3 ve 54,9 olarak belirlenmiştir. Gamma-T-ol %3,60 konsantrasyonunun T. urticae'ye karşı repellent etkisi ise 2, 6, 24, 48 ve 72 saat sonra sırasıyla %83,1, 79,5, 71,1, 65,7 ve 55,9 olarak belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak M. alternifolia'dan elde edilen Fungatol ve Gamma-T-ol ekstraktlarının T. urticae'ye karşı yüksek repellent etkiye sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir.
