The importance and role of gypsum in cement production

Abstract

Ever since cement has been produced, gypsum has been ground into the cement. Gypsum is added to cement mainly for the purpose of regulating its setting time. Gypsum prevents flash setting and makes the concrete workable for hours. Gypsum is an extremely important part of cement. The gypsum influences not only the setting but also other cement properties such as grindability, sensitivity to storage, volume stability and strength.

Çimento üretiminin başlamasıyla birlikte çimento içinde alçı kullanımı da başlamıştır. Alçı esas olarak çimentoya donmayı düzenlemek için ilave edilir. Alçı çimentoyu ani donmadan korur ve böylece betonu bir kaç saat işlenilebilir yapar. Alçı çimento üretiminde çok önemli bir bileşendir. Sadece çimentonun donmasını düzenlemekle kalmaz, ayrıca öğütülebilirlik, stoklama hassasiyeti, hacim stabilitiesi ve mukavemet gibi diğer çimento özelliklerini de etkiler.
