Abstract
"Development of cement demand" of a country can be used as a practical parameter to reflect the level of development of the country [1]. It can also enable one to assess the future of the cement sector while providing reliable indications for the probable progress of the country's economy. It is aimed in this study to develop mid-term models to estimate the cement demand of Turkey for the future. Annual demand estimations of cement for Turkey are found up to year 2000, evaluating the data before year 1996, using four different regression analysis as; Trend Analysis I (TA I), Trend Analysis II (TAII), Construction Investments Technique (CIT) and BIPE (a place of use analysis). According to the four mid-term models, it is found that, Turkey should expand its cement industry as to attain a 45 million tons per year capacity, to be reached gradually by the year 2005. It is also found that, estimations can be done with a maximum error of 4.4%.
