Trace element emissions of some Turkish cement factories

Abstract

Air pollution regulation of Turkey deals with the problem of trace element pollution by categorizing inorganic material in two groups and three different classes each and by issuing emission limits for each class. In the present study, dust samples obtained from main stacks of three cement plants located in three different geographical areas are analyzed for their trace elements including Be, Cd, Pb, Ni, Se, Te, Tl, V, Sb, Ba, In, Co, Sr, Cu, Bi, Ca, Mg, and Mo by using sequential plasma type AtomScan 25 inductively coupled plasma spectrophotometer of Thermo Jarrell Ash Corporation. The trace element emission factors which have been calculated for the three cement plants located in different regions of Turkey agree to great extent with the values given in literature. On the other hand, the trace element emissions of all the plants considered are well below the limits set in the Turkish Air Quality Protection Regulation.

Özet

Türkiye'deki hava kirliliği yönetmeliği, eser element kirliliği problemini inorganik maddeleri iki gruba ve her bir grupta 3 farklı sınıf ve her sınıf için farklı emisyon limitleri kullanarak değerlendirmektedir. Bu çalışmada, üç ayrı coğrafi bölgede yerleşik fabrikaların ana bacalarından alınan partikül madde numunelerinin Be, Cd, Cr, Pb, Ni, Se, Tl, V, Sb, Ba, Zn, Co, Sr, Cu, Bi, Ca, Mg ve Mo analizleri yapılmıştır. Thermo Jarrell Ash firmasının sıralı plazma tipi Atom Scan 25 endüktif olarak birbirine bağlı plazma spektrofotometresi ile elementlerin son analizleri yapılmıştır. Numuneler modifiye edilmiş TJA Portland çimento analiz metodu ile hazırlanmıştır. Üç çimento fabrikası için Türkiye'nin değişik bölgelerinde belirlenen eser element emisyon faktörleri literatürde verilen değerlerle büyük oranda benzerlikler göstermektedir. Diğer taraftan, bütün fabrikaların eser element emisyonları HKKY limit değerlerinin altındadır.
