Blended concrete or blended cement?

Abstract

Adding mineral admixtures at the cement plant has several advantages over adding them to the concrete mixture: According to the properties of admixture the composition of the clinker and sulfate content can be adjusted, particle size distribution can be optimized and better quality control can be maintained. Such things are very difficult, even impossible at the concrete plant. Recent developments in multi component silos also provide the required flexibility for meeting individual job requirements calling for varying amounts of admixtures.
