Evaluation of infrastructure systems in Turkey at municipalities dimension

Abstract

This study reviews and assesses the current situation of infrastructure systems of municipalities that serve to 78% of Turkish population. The data is obtained from the Turkish Statistics Institute as of 1998 statistics; and water distribution, wastewater collection, water and wastewater treatment plants of 3215 municipalities have been considered. The results of the study indicate the prevailing conditions and the insufficiency of the infrastructure systems.

Özet

Sunulan makalede ülkemizde nüfusun %78'ine hizmet veren belediyelerde altyapı ve arıtma tesislerinin mevcut durumu değerlendirilmektedir. Çalışma kapsamında Devlet istatistik Enstitüsü (DİE) tarafından 1998 yılı itibariyle yayınlanan veriler kullanılmış; Türkiye genelinde 3215 belediyenin içmesuyu dağıtım, kanalizasyon şebekesi ve alıcı ortama atıksu deşarj durumu; ayrıca içmesuyu ve atıksu arıtma tesisleri esas alınmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular ve sonuçlar ülkemizde altyapı tesislerinin durumunu ve yetersizliğini ortaya koymaktadır.
