Preparing Reading and Writing in Early Childood Years

Abstract

Reading and writing skills of a child begin to be attained with birth. Reading and writing skills of the child are affected by such factors as the education and socio-economical status of the family, as well as the features he has and the status of growth. Besides these factors, the importance the family pays into the issue and the efforts they spend are also effective on the improvement of reading and writing skills of the child. Verbal language competence, knowledge of background affairs, awareness of writing and alphabet, phonological sensibility and prewriting works are of great importance for the improvement of these skills. In order to improve these basic, and reading and writing skills, families should be aware of the requirements and be supportive for their child with some suitable activities. Teacher guidance is needed in order to make the families be aware and skillful.

Özet

Çocuğun okuma yazma becerisi doğumla birlikte kazanılmaya başlamaktadır. Çocuğun okuma yazma becerisi, sahip olduğu özellikleri ve gelişim durumu ile birlikte, ailesinin eğitim ve sosyo ekonomik durumu gibi faktörlerden etkilenmektedir. Çocuğun okuma yazma becerisinin gelişmesinde bu faktörlerin yanı sıra ailenin bu konuya verdikleri önem ve gösterdikleri çaba da etkili olmaktadır. Çocuğun okuma yazma becerisinin gelişiminde sözel dil becerisi, genel kültür bilgisi, yazı bilinci, alfabe bilgisi, fonolojik duyarlılık ve yazı öncesi çalışmalar oldukça önemlidir. Bu temel becerilerin ve okuma yazma becerisinin gelişmesi için ailelerin neler yapabileceğini bilmesi ve uygun aktivitelerle çocuklarına yardımcı olmaları gerekmektedir. Ailelerin bu konuda bilgili ve becerili olmalarında öğretmen rehberliğine ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.
