Abstract
Between 1991 and 1996,18 patients were treated for pan¬creatic pseudocyst at the Mersin State Hospital. The etiol¬ogy of the cysts were blunt abdominal trauma in 5 patients (% 27). 4 out of 5 those cases, cysts were localized in the body of the pancreas and in one case, it was localized in the tail of the pancreas. Three patients were treated by in¬ternal drainage with a cystojejunostomy (Roux-en-Y) and one patient was treated by external drainage. The patient who had a cyst in the tail of pancreas 5 cm in diameter was treated conservatively and spontaneous regression was observed. The patient who had external drainage died because of sepsis on the second day after the operation. The period of follow-up varied from 10 to 36 months in 4 patients. There was no recurrence during this period.
