Abstract
Tailgut cysts (retrorectal cystic hamartoma, postanal gut cyst) are benign malformative lesions that located the pre-sacrococcygeal area, usually seen in adult patients espe¬cially women, presenting with chronic perirectal symp¬toms such as pain, discharge and compression findings but rarely transformated malign degeneration. In our case, a patient who had pain and discharge in coc-cygeal area for two years was operated. Preoperative di¬agnosis was teratoma but histopathologic evaluation re¬vealed tailgut cyst. This case was discussed and compared with literature because of it's rarity and leading the misdi-agnosis and mistreatment.
