Abstract

We used 40 rats with full-thickness skin defect 3 cm in di¬ameter. They were divided into 4 groups according to de-bridment methods as; Novuxol, Debrisan, first four days Novuxol then Debrisan, and surgical debridment. For the evaluation of wound healing at seventh and four¬teenth days, wounds and surrounding healthy tissues were resected. Tissue hydroxyproline level, tensile strength, planimetric study and histopathologic studies were per¬formed on these specimens. According to our results there is no requirement for an ad¬ditional debridement to conventional surgical debride¬ment in acute wounds. However, Novuxol and Debrisan accelerate the healing in chronic wounds.
