Abstract

Two-Step Procedure in Budd-Chiari Syndrome: Vena Cava Stenting and Mesocaval Shunt ' 35. years old female patient was admitted to our hospital with a six month 'history of abdominal distantion and weakness. With the symtomps and history like Systemic Lupus Erythematosis, our first diagnosis was as Budd-. Chiari Syndrome. In her radiological examination there were reduction in the diameters of both retrohepatic vena cava and portal vein, trombosis in the hepatic veins and new venous intrahepatic collateral occurrence. Mesocaval shunt with autogenous juguler vein and peritoneovenous shunt were performed. Despite the expectance of a poor prognosis, we would like to state that clinical benefit would be achieved by surgery in such patients with a delayed diagnosis of Budd Chiari syndrome.
