Abstract
Sixty-four burn patients were included in this clinical research. In the trial group, fourteen female and eighteen male, totally thirty-two patients were locally treated with high voltage stimulation therapy (corona therapy); mean-while silver nitrate was topically applied to thirty two patients in the control group and these were managed as closed wounds. Bum wounds healed in 13th days in corona therapy group, but in 18th days in control group patients and the difference between these two groups were statistically significant. Comparing the microbiologic results of these two groups, wound cultures were positive in patients (6.3 %) in corona therapy and in 7patients (21.8 %) in control group. We claim that high voltage electrical stimulation therapy is easy, safe and cost effective in second degree burn patients.
