Raw material potential of the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous dolomites in the Aydıncık (İçel) area

Abstract

This study concerns with mineralogical, petrographical and geochemical analysis of dolomites in Örendüzü member of the Cehennemdere formation in NW of Aydıncık (İçel) town and also use of this material in industry. The dolomites are bounded by limestones of the Early Malm age at the bottom and by limestones of the Early Cretaceous age at the top. Thickness of the dolomites is about 100 meters. They were systematically sampled from the bottom to the top. Mineral contents of the samples were determined by microscopic and FTIR methods, and chemical composition by XRF method. Bu çalışma Aydıncık (İçel) ilçesinin kuzeybatısındaki Cehennemdere formasyonunun Örendüzü üyesi içindeki dolomitlerin mineralojik, petrografik, jeokimyasal özelliklerinin incelemesi ve hammadde potansiyelinin araştırılmasını kapsamaktadır. Dolomitler altta Erken Malm ve üstte Erken Kretase yaşlı kireçtaşları ile sınırlanırlar. Kalınlığı yaklaşık 100 metre olan dolomitler tabandan tavana doğru sistematik bir şekilde örneklenmiş olup, alınan örneklerin mineral içerikleri mikroskobik, X-lşını, FTIR ve element içerikleri ise XRF yöntemiyle belirlenmiştir. Örneklerin büyük çoğunluğunda yalnız dolomite rastlanmıştır. Sadece iki örnekte, dolomitle beraber az miktarda (
