Universality of Shame in the Holy Bible and the Koran: If You Feel No Shame, Then Do As You Wish

Abstract
Feeling of shame constitues a control mechanism over individual and a societyand forces individual not to be against the values of society. Shame is a psyc- hocial power which has a social compelling force. It is a social, psychosocialand moral creteria for a social being human to live whit the other in a man- ner, which suits the humanity.Islam is a universal religion, Muhammad (peace be open him) who is the lastprophet sent a messenger to all humanity. As the hadisths are the word be- long to him soit is very natural that the hadisths carry an universal features.To a greater extent propets messages express continuity. From the very firstprophet to the last prophet all the prophets emphizes on one of the prinsi- palswhich was for this reasen kept in the minds of human: if yo feel no sha- me; do whatever you want. All the prophets tried to bring the people to themodesty in their geography in which they have a mission.In this article, we re going to deal with universality of the shame feeling in aframework of the Holy Book and Quran.

Hayâ duygusu kişi üzerinde bir kontrol mekanizması kurmakta; onu toplumdeğerlerinin karşısında olmamaya zorlamaktadır. Hayâ, sosyal yaptırıma sahippsiko-sosyal bir güçtür. Sosyal bir varlık olan insanın öteki ile insanca yaşaya- bilmesi için esas alacağı sosyal, psikolojik ve ahlâkî bir ölçüdür.İslam evrensel bir din olup Hz. Muhammed (s.a.v.) de bütün insanlığa gönde- rilmiş bir peygamberdir. Hadisler Onun sözü olunca, bazı hadislerin de evren- sel özellikler taşıması doğaldır.Peygamberlerin mesajları büyük ölçüde süreklilik ifade eder. İlk peygamber- den son peygambere kadar bütün peygamberlerin üzerinde durdukları ve buyüzden insanların aklında kalan ilkelerden biri de Utanmadıktan sonra dilediği- ni yap sözüdür. Bütün peygamberler, görevli oldukları coğrafyada, insanlarıhayâ çizgisine çekmeye çalışmışlardır.Bu makalede, Kitab-ı Mukaddes ve Kuran çerçevesinde, hayâ duygusunun ev- renselliğini ele alacağız.
