Is nasal packing after endonasal surgery an absolute need?

Abstract

Nasal packing is a method which is applied by many surgeons after nasal and sinüs surgery to rule out the postoperative bleeding, adhesions, and cartilage dislocations. The results of 100 patients who had nasal ör sinüs surgery vvithout nasal packing were studied to evaluate the need of nasal packing. Litherature was revievved for the complications of nasal packing. The methods which defeat postoperative nasal packing were examined. This study has concluded that postoperative nasal packing after septal surgery, rhinoplasty and endoscopic surgery is not a need unless for a few patient who might have aboundant bleeding.

Burun içi tamponlanması, burun ve sinüs cerrahisini takiben postoperatif kanamayı, adezyonları ve kıkırdak kaymalarını önlemek için pek çok cerrah tarafından rutin olarak uygulanan bir yöntemdir. Postoperatif burun tamponlanması gerekliliğinin sorgulanabilmesi için burun ve endoskopik sinüs cerrahisi sonrasında burun tamponlanması uygulanmayan 100 hastanın takip sonuçları incelendi. Burun tamponlanmasma bağlı komplikasyonlar hakkında literatür bilgileri gözden geçirildi. Postoperatif burun tamponlanması ihtiyacını ortadan kaldıracak yöntemler sunuldu. Bu çalışmada nazal septal cerrahi, rinoplasti ve endoskopik sinüs cerrahisi sonrasında burun tamponlanmasının, aşırı kanaması izlenen az sayıdaki hasta dışında, gerekli olmadığı sonucuna ulaşıldı.
