Coğrafya ders kitapları, dersin planlı bir şekilde işlenmesinde kullanılan önemli araçlardan biridir. İyi bir coğrafya ders kitabı, aynı zamanda önemli bir kaynaktır. Coğrafya ders kitapları; öğretmenlere güncel, doğru, konuya uygun ve geniş kapsamlı bilgiler sunar. Ders kitabı, öğrencileri derse motive edecek şekilde tasarlanmalıdır. İyi planlanmış bir coğrafya ders kitabı kullanım kurallarını da vermesi gerekmektedir. Böylece öğrenciler aradıkları konuya rahat bir şekilde ulaşabilirler ve kendilerinden istenilenleri anlayabilirler. Coğrafya ders kitapları bu tarzda hazırlanırsa, öğrenciler kitapta yer alan konulardan haberdar olurlar, hangi konunun nerede ve nasıl bulunacağını bilirler. Abstract

The geography textbook can either be a professionally set of lessons plans that form a scheme of work, or it can be a source of additional material. A good geography textbook is a resource, albeit the most important resource. It should provide teachers with up to date, accurate, relevant and wide ranging data and be presented in a way that should generate interest and motivate pupils. A well structured geography textbook imposes its own discipline. Students can see where they are going and know what is expected of them. This should, in tum, increase their awareness of the subject and confidence in themselves.
