Abstract
Aim. Cervical cancer is one of the most common female malignancy with high mortality rates indeveloping countries. Our purpose is to present cervical cytologic abnormalities and the detectionrate of epithelial abnormalities by cervical cytology (CC). Method. A total of 8972 conventionalpap smear tests collected between August 2010 and August 2012 from Çankırı State Hospital wereretrospectively analyzed and results were based on the 2001 Bethesda system. Results. Total of129 (1.4%) cases had epithelial abnormalities. The numbers and rates of epithelial abnormalitieswere as the followings: Atypical squamous cell of undetermined significance (ASCUS; n=75[0.8%]); atypical squamous cell suspicious for high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (ASC- H; n=10 [0.11%]); atypical glandular cell of undetermined significance (AGUS; n=8 [0.08%]);low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL; n=22 [0.24%]); high-grade squamousintraepithelial lesion (HSIL; n=14 [0.15%]). Conclusion. The prevelence of cervical cytologicalabnormality in our study was 1.4% and the most of them were diagnosed as atypical squamous cellof undetermined significance (ASCUS). Our results partly correspond with the studies that werecarried out on the large amounts of Turkish population.
Toplam 129 vakada (%1,4) epitelyal anormalite izlenmiş, bunların 75inde (%0,8)önemi belirlenemeyen atipik skuamöz hücreler (ASCUS), 10unda (%0,11) yüksek gradeli atipikintraepitelial lezyon şüpheli atipik skuamöz hücreler (ASC-H), 8inde (%0,08) önemibelirlenemeyen atipik glandüler hücreler (AGUS), 22sinde (%0,24) düşük dereceli skuamözintraepitelyal lezyon (LSIL), 14ünde (%0,15) yüksek dereceli skuamöz intraepitelyal lezyon(HSIL) saptanmıştır. Sonuç. Çalışmamızda servikal sitolojik anormalite prevalansı %1,4 olarakbulunmuş, bunlar arasında en yüksek oranı önemi belirlenemeyen atipik skuamoz hücrelerin(ASCUS) oluşturduğu saptanmıştır. Sonuçlar Türkiye genelinde daha geniş popülasyonda yapılanmevcut çalışmalarla kısmen örtüşmektedir.
