Seroprevalance of Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV In Police Vocational High School Students

Abstract

Aim: In this study, it was aimed to determine the seroprevalence ofHepatitis B virus (HBV), Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and HumanImmunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in the Police Vocational HighSchool students in Samsun and to compare them with the studiesperformed in different years, different regions from our country.Material and Methods: Anti - HBsAg, anti-HIV and anti-HCV testresults were retrospectively investigated and seroprevalence of thesediseases were investigated in the students of the Police VocationalSchool who applied to our hospitals Infectious Diseases and ClinicalMicrobiology Clinic between February 2018 and March 2018.Results: Of the 748 students included in the study, 108 (14.4%) werefemale and 640 (85.6%) were male. The mean age was 20.88 ± 2.3years. HBsAg positivity was found in four (0.5%) students and antiHCV positivity was found in one (0.1%) student. Anti-HIV positivitywas not detected. The HBV-DNA results of students with HBsAgpositivity were found to be <20 IU / ml. The HCV-RNA result of theanti-HCV positivity student was negative.Conclusion: In our study, it was found that the seroprevalence ofHepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV was lower than other studies insimilar populations in previous years.

Özet

Amaç:Polis Meslek Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinde Hepatit B, Hepatit C, HIV seroprevalansının araştırılması ve diğer bölgelerde yapılan araştırma sonuçları ile karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır.Metod:Samsun ilinde Enfeksiyon Hastalıkları ve Klinik Mikrobiyoloji polikliniğine başvuran 748 öğrencinin serumlarında HBsAg, anti HIV ve anti-HCV sonuçlarına bakıldı. HBsAg, anti-HCV tetkikleri pozitif saptanan öğrencilerden HBV-DNA ve HCV-RNA tetkikleri çalışıldı.Bulgular:Toplam 748 öğrencinin 108’i (%14.44) kız, 640’ı (%85.56) erkek, yaş ortalamaları 20.88 yıl idi. 4 (%0.53) öğrencide HBsAg pozitif, 1 (%0.13) öğrencide anti-HCV pozitif olarak saptandı. HBsAg tetkikleri pozitif saptanan öğrencilerden bakılan HBVDNA sonuçları <20 IU/ml saptandı. anti-HCV tetkikleri pozitif saptanan öğrenciden bakılan HCVRNA negatif olarak saptandı. Hiçbir öğrencide anti-HIV pozitifliği saptanmadı.Sonuç: Çalışmamızda Hepatit B, Hepatit C ve HIV seroprevalansının ülkemizde önceki yıllarda benzer popülasyonlarda yapılan diğer çalışmalara göre daha düşük olduğu saptanmıştır.
