A Case of Naht in Arabic Language (In the Case of İbn Faris

Abstract

The naht, in Arabic language is to create a new words shortly by two or three words or a sentence. Case of naht that features such as enriching and shortening language is very important point with regard to any language. al-Khalil b. Ahmad is known as the first person to express case of naht in the Arabic language. Although he did not give very detailed information about naht in his book is named al-Ayn, he pointed out the existence of feature like that. Therefore, a few examples is known related to naht in the period before Islam. In this article, naht will be defined, then the information will be given about the permission of the naht and the reason of Arabs’ applying to the Naht. The difference between “naht” and “ishtiqaq” will be emphasized and it will be emphasized that the naht is basically “samai” (accepted by hearing). In addition to this it will be dealt in this article the opinions of Ibn Faris who deals with the case of naht differently and widely also will be discussed the criticism of the author’s opinion related to naht and answers to these criticism. On the other hand detailed information will be given in the article about the kinds of naht and the difference between “menhut” and “mezid” words will be emphasized.

Özet

Naht,Arap dilinde iki veya üç kelimeden ya da bir cümleden ihtisar yoluyla yepyenibir kelime üretmektir. Dili zenginleştirme ve ihtisar gibi özellikleri olan naht olgusu birdil açısından çok önemli husustur. el-Halil b. Ahmed, Arap dilindeki naht olgusunu ilkifade eden kişi olarak bilinmektedir. O, el-‘Ayn adlı eserinde naht’la ilgili çok ayrıntılı bilgivermese de böyle bir özelliğin varlığına dikkat çekmektedir. Bununla beraber İslam’danönceki dönemde de naht’la alakalı örnekler ne kadar az olsa da bilinmektedir.Makalede naht’ın tanımı verildikten sonra naht’ın cevazı, Arapların naht’a başvurmasebebi ve gayesi ile alakalı bilgi verilecek, naht ile iştikak arasında olan fark belirtilecek,naht’ın genel itibariyle semâ‘î olduğu vurgulanacaktır. Bununla beraber eserlerinde nahtolgusunu daha farklı ve daha geniş bir şekilde işleyen İbn Fâris’in bu konuyla alakalıgörüşleri incelenecek ve müellifin naht düşüncesine yöneltilen eleştiriler ve bu eleştirilereverilen cevaplar da ele alınacaktır. Ayrıca makalede naht’ın çeşitleri hakkında ayrıntılıbilgi verilecek, menhût ve mezîd kelimeler arasındaki farklar belirtilecektir.
