Abstract
Synovial chondromatosis is a rare condition in which foci of cartilage develop in the synovial membrane of joints, bursae or tendon sheats as a result of metaplasia of the synovial connective tissue. In this study a 56 year old woman with a 10 months history of swelling and pain over the IP joint of the thumb of the right hand was investigated. Histopathologic examination showed synovialchondromatosis. No recurrence was seen at 4 years follow-up.
