Bosniak classification type II in the cystic renal masses: Case report and review of the literature

Abstract

Bosniak classification is used for the evaluation of diagnosis and treatment of the cystic renal masses. However, the discrimination of Bosniak II and III can not clearly be done even though with newly developed radiologi¬cal diagnostic methods. Moreover, cancer can be developed during the follow-up of Bosniak 11 cystic renal masses. In this paper a Bosniak II case, whom was followed-up for 8 years and then diagnosed as regressed renal cell carcinoma following the radical nephrectomy, was reported by reviewing the literature.

Özet

Bosniak sınıflandırması kistik renal kitlelerin tanı ve tedavisinin planlanması için kullanılmaktadır. Ancak gelişen radyolojik tanı yöntemlerine rağmen Bosniak II ve Bosniak III birbirinden net olarak ayrılamamaktadır. Ayrıca, Bosniak II kistik renal kitlelerin takibi sırasında da kanser gelişebilmektedir. Bu yazıda 8 yıl Bosniak II olarak takip edilen ve radikal nefrektomi sonrası regrese böbrek hücreli kanser tanısı konulan bir olgu, literatür gözden geçirilerek sunulmuştur.
