A Research on the Local Names of Juglans regia L. Plant in Turkey

Juglans regia L. Bitkisinin Türkiye’deki Yöresel İsimleri Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Juglans regia L., which has a natural distribution in Eastern and Northeastern Anatolia in our country, is used in food, medicine, paint, perfumery, furniture, etc. And it is a precious tree that is widely used in landscape architecture as well as many different uses. Throughout the country, it is known by different local names “ceviz, koz, goz, güz, giz” etc., and the “ceviz” local name is used most commonly. In this study, the local names of the Juglans regia plant, which grows naturally in Turkey, is well known by the public and used for various purposes, were evaluated. As a result of the study, a total of 30 different local names of this plant were determined in 7 different regions of the country. At the same time, it was seen that the Eastern Anatolia Region came to the fore with 20 different local names throughout the country.

Özet

Ülkemizde Doğu ve Kuzeydoğu Anadolu’da doğal yayılışa sahip Juglans regia L. bitkisi gıda, medikal, boya, parfümeri, mobilyacılık vb. çok farklı kullanımlarının yanı sıra peyzaj mimarlığı çalışmalarında da yoğun bir şekilde değerlendirilen, kıymetli bir ağaçtır. Ülke genelinde “ceviz, koz, goz, güz, giz” vb. değişik yerel isimlerle anılmakta olup, en yaygın olarak “ceviz” yerel ismi kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de doğal olarak yetişen ve de halk tarafından oldukça iyi tanınıp, çok çeşitli amaçlarla kullanılan Juglans regia bitkisine ait yöresel isimler değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda ülkenin 7 farklı bölgesinde bu bitkiye ait toplamda 30 farklı yöresel isim tespit edilmiştir. Aynı zamanda ülke genelinde 20 farklı yöresel isim ile Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nin ön plana çıktığı görülmüştür.
