1939 Great Earthquake Erzincan

Abstract

The wounds of the December 27, 1939 earthquake, which was the biggest destructive earthquake of Erzincan in its history, were tried to be wrapped up by the central and local organizations together compatible. Both Erzincan and the other 11 cities was affected from that earthquake and big losses took place. The subsistence and housing of the people affected from the earthquake, the supply of the necessities and the organization of their distribution were the important problems. The help commissions established main cities achieved to collect some money and humanity materials for the benefit of the affected people. It is identified that those helps made both from the domestic and from the foreign.

Özet

Erzincan’ın tarihinde yaşadığı yıkıcı etkisi en büyük deprem olma özelliğine sahip 27 Aralık 1939 depreminin yaraları merkezi ve mahalli teşkilatlar tarafından beraberce uyum içinde sarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu depremden Erzincan’ın yanısıra 11 vilayet de etkilenmiş ve büyük kayıplar vermiştir. Depremzedelerin iaşe ve iskânı, ihtiyaç maddelerinin tedariki ve dağıtımının organizasyonunu önemli meseleler olarak karşımıza çıkmıştır. Belli başlı şehirlerde kurulan yardım komisyonları depremzedeler yararına önemli miktarda para ve insani malzeme toplamayı başarmıştır. Bu yardımların yurtiçinden olduğu gibi yurtdışından da yapıldığı tespit edilmiştir.
