Abstract

One of the works written in the field of language in Arabic literature is the works of melâhin. Names such as “muhâcât, lugaz, ehâcî, ta’miye, mugâlata, mu’âyât” have also been used in close relation with the melâhin which can be expressed with concepts such as word-games/ puzzles in Turkish. There are verse forms and prose types of melâhin works which have the habit of solving difficult expressions, evaluating the time, measuring the knowledge level of the other side, developing intelligence and concealing purpose. There have been those who claim that the Melâhin is positive and worthwhile, and those who claim them as useless and unnecessary. However, its relation with the eloquence by the belief of the use of the words in the metaphor and the humour; its relation with the philosophical sciences in that the person is encouraged to think multidirectional, and its relation with the linguistics in that the words are used in multiple manners, all makes Melâhin valuable.Ibn Dureyd, using Melâhin with a different perspective, has earned a work with original content and purpose. In this study, İbn Dureyd’s Kitâbu’l-melâhin was examined in terms of content and method and its place in the area was determined by revealing its original directions

Özet

Melâhin türü eserler, Arap edebiyatında dil alanında yazılmış olan eser türlerinden biridir. Kelime ve zekâ oyunları, bilmece-bulmaca gibi kavramlarla ifade edilebilecek melâhin kavramına yakın olarak "muhâcât, lugaz, ehâcî, ta'miye, mugâlata, mu'âyât" gibi isimler kullanılmıştır. Zor ifadeleri çözme alışkanlığı kazandırmak, vakti değerlendirmek, muhatabın bilgi seviyesini ölçmek, zekâyı geliştirmek ve amacı gizlemek gibi gayeleri bulunan melâhinin şiir ve nesir türleri bulunmaktadır. Melâhin olgusuna olumlu yaklaşıp değerli bulanların yanı sıra faydasız ve gereksiz bir alan olduğunu iddia edenler de olmuştur.Ancak kelimelerin mecâz ve kinayede kullanılması açısından belagat ilmiyle, kişiyi çok yönlü düşünmeye sevk etmesi açısından felsefe bilimleriyle, kelimelerin birden çok manada kullanılmasıyla da dilbilimiyle olan ilişkisi, melâhini değerli kılmaktadır.İbn Dureyd, melâhin olgusuna farklı bir perspektiften yaklaşarak özgün içerik ve amaca sahip bir eser ortaya koymuştur. Bu çalışmada İbn Dureyd'in Kitâbu'l-melâhin isimli eseri, içerik ve metot açısından incelenmiş ve özgün yönleri ortaya koyularak alandaki yeri tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır
