Performance Evaluation of 6to4 Automatic Tunneling Method in Virtual Environment Networking

Abstract

In this study, a network performance analysis was made for the networks of IPv4 and IPv6 by using 6to4 tunneling. The data communication protocols of TCP and UDP were tested by using virtual machine tool for simulating the all network scenarios. The performance metrics such as jitter, datagram/packet loss and bandwidth were measured in both TCP and UPD traffic flow. As a result of adopting IPv6 tunneling methods, there exists no adversely affect of network performance with IPv6, and has shown equivalent performance to other networks

Özet

Bu çalışmada, sanal ortamda 6to4 tünelleme yöntemiyle, IPv4 ve IPv6 ağlar için performans karşılaştırılması yapılmıştır. Oluşturulan senaryolarda TCP ve UDP veri iletim protokolleri test edilmiştir. Performans metrikleri olarak; aktarılan veri oranı, bant genişliği, dalga bozulma oranı ve kayıp paket oranları seçilmiştir. Kurulan IPv4, IPv6 ve 6to4 tünel ağ senaryoları benzetim programları kullanılarak test edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak tünelleme yöntemi kullanarak IPv6'ya geçmenin ağ performansını olumsuz şekilde etkilemediği ve diğer ağlarla eşdeğer performans sergilediği görülmüştür
