LANGUAGE AND REALITY IN POSTMODERN APPROACH: A CRİTİCİSM

Abstract

According to the postmodern perspective the world can not exist as a thing in itself independent from the interpretation; in contrast, however, it comes into being only by way of the interpretations. The human mind can never judge the world from an ahistorical point; because it is not placed in a location outside of the world. Thus, our all knowledge is a part of the interpretive context; beyond any context, there is also another interpretive context. In short, all human knowledge can be conveyed through signs and symbols reflecting human interests, concerns and expectations. As it is understood, this approach is pluralistic and relativistic. For example, no matter what type of, any text can not be fixed on accurate and reliable non-linguistic basis; at the furthest, it refers to another text. In other words, we never escape from the game between signs; because a privileged connection can not be established between language and reality. Therefore any text must be analysed on the basis of theoretical and practical purposes that those serves. Here, the main objective is solving the stable structure, showing the falsity of metaphysical philosophies and dropping the mask of intellect. In this sense, postmodernism is decentering, dissloving and reducing; in addition, it is a skeptical attitude against the holistic approaches and discourses. My aim in this article is a little bit to draw attention to the problems caused by seeing human existence and language as the ultimate frame of reference for all cognitive claims. In this article, firstly it will be described the postmodern understanding, secondly critisim will be directed to this understanding

Postmodern bakış açısına göre, dünya yorumdan bağımsız kendinde şey olarak var olamaz; aksine, ancak yorumlar aracılığıyla var olur. İnsan zihni, hiçbir zaman tarihdışı bir noktadan dünyayı yargılayamaz; çünkü o, dünyanın dışında bir yere konumlanmış değildir. Dolayısıyla, tüm bilgilerimiz, yorumlayıcı sosyo-lingüistik bağlamın bir parçasıdır; herhangi bir bağlamın ötesinde, yine başka bir yorumlayıcı bağlam vardır. Kısaca, bütün insan bilgisi, insanî ilgi, kaygı ve beklentileri yansıtan gösterge ve semboller yoluyla iletilir. Anlaşılacağı üzere, bu yaklaşım çoğulcu ve göreceli bir yaklaşımdır. Sözgelimi, hangi türden olursa olsun, herhangi bir metin, kesin ve güvenilir dildışı bir temele oturtulamaz; olsa olsa o, başka bir metine atıfta bulunur. Başka bir ifadeyle, gösterenler arasındaki oyundan asla kaçamayız; çünkü dil ile gerçek arasında imtiyazlı bir bağ kurulamaz. Bu nedenle, her tür metin, hizmet ettiği nazarî ve amelî amaçlara dayalı olarak çözümlenmelidir. Burada, temel amaç kararlı yapıları çözme, metafiziksel felsefelerin yanlışlığını gösterme ve Akıl`ın düzeyini düşürmedir. Bu anlamda, postmodernizm, merkezsizleştirici, çözücü ve indirgeyici; ayrıca, bütüncül söylem ve yaklaşımlara karşı şüpheci bir tavırdır, Bu makaledeki amacım, insan varoluşunu ve dili tüm bilişsel iddialar için nihâî atıf çerçevesi olarak görmenin neden olduğu sorunlara bir parça dikkat çekmektir.
