Assessment of Personality Traits of Branch Teachers Working in Secondary Schools and High Schools

Ortaokul ve Liselerde Görev Yapan Branş Öğretmenlerinin Kişilik Özelliklerinin Değerlendirilmes

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate relationship beetwen personality traits of branch teachers and gender, school type, school level and their branches in secondary school and high school. The research was conducted in accordance with screening model. The research group was formed by branch teachers (n=363) who are working in public and private secondary and high schools which are connected to the Ministry of National Education in Canakkale Centre, Ayvacık, Bayramic, Biga, Can, Ezine, Gelibolu, Gokceada, Lapseki and Yenice in 20132014 academic year. The mean age of the study group was 38.3 (Sd=8.841). 55.1% of the participants was formed by female branch teachers, 44.9% was formed by male branch teachers. Personality Inventory (PERI) short form was used in research. Kruskal Wallis Test, t Test and Mann Whitney U Test were used in the analysis of research data. Consequently, it was understood that branch teachers had low scores "low or no effect" on emotional stability personality traits and so they were not adequate. Besides, there was no significant difference between gender, school type and school level variables and personality traits (p> 0.05). But there was significant difference between branches personality traits (p< 0.05)

Çalışmanın amacı, ortaokul ve liselerdeki branş öğretmenlerinin kişilik özelliklerinin cinsiyet, branş, okul türü ve okul seviyesine göre değerlendirmektir. Araştırma, tarama modelinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma grubu, 2013-2014 öğretim yılında Çanakkale Merkezi ile Ayvacık, Bayramiç, Biga, Çan, Ezine, Gelibolu, Gökceada, Lapseki, ve Yenice ilçelerinde Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı'na bağlı devlet ve özel ortaokul ve liselerde görev yapan branş öğretmenlerinden (n=363) oluşmuştur. Katılımcıların yaş ortalaması 38,3'tür (Sd=8.841). Katılımcıların %55,1'i (n=200) kadın, %44,9'u (n=163) ise erkek branş öğretmenlerinden oluşmuştur. PERI (Personality Inventory) kişilik ölçeği araştırmada kullanılmıştır. Kruskal Wallis Testi, t Testi ve Mann Whitney U testleri kullanılarak veriler analiz edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, branş öğretmenlerinin duygusal denge kişilik özelliğine "düşük yada etkili değil" düzeyinde sahip oldukları görülmüştür.
