Teachers' Opinions on Teaching the Logical Inference of Identities and Using Skills of These Logical Inferences

Öğretmenlerin Özdeşliklerin Mantıksal Çıkarımının Öğretilmesine İlişkin Görüşleri ve Bu Mantıksal Çıkarımları Kullanma Becerileri

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the middle mathematics teachers' opinions on teaching the logical inference of identities and using skills of these logical inferences. In the study, interview and observation techniques were used together, and the interviews were recorded. 10 middle mathematics teachers working in public schools constituted the participants of this study, in which the case study was carried out. In this context, an interview form consisting of four open-ended questions was used as the data collection tool in the study. In the data analysis, the content and descriptive analysis techniques were used. As a result of the study, it was observed that most of the teachers taught the logical inference underlying identities in their course. When opinions on teaching the logical inferences underlying identities were analyzed, it was determined that most of the teachers thought that teaching the logical inference of identities was necessary

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, öğretmenlerin özdeşliklerin mantıksal çıkarımının öğretilmesine ilişkin görüşlerini ve bu mantıksal çıkarımları kullanma becerilerini incelenmektir. Durum çalışmasının yürütüldüğü bu çalışmanın katılımcılarını, devlet okullarında görev yapan 10 matematik öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Bu çerçevede çalışmada, veri toplama aracı olarak dört açık sorudan oluşan görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada görüşme ve gözlem teknikleri birlikte kullanılmış, yapılan görüşmeler ses kaydına alınmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, içerik ve betimsel analiz teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, öğretmenlerin çoğunun derslerinde özdeşliklerin altında yatan mantıksal çıkarımı öğrettiği ortaya çıkmıştır. Özdeşliklerin altında yatan mantıksal çıkarımının öğretilmesine ilişkin görüşleri incelendiğinde ise, öğretmenlerin çoğunun, özdeşliklerin mantıksal çıkarımının öğretilmesinin gerekli olduğunu düşündükleri tespit edilmiştir
