ON HOW GREAT THE 'NEW GREAT GAME' IS

Abstract

Today, the geography of Eurasia consisting of Central Asia, the Caspian Region and the geographic area surrounding these regions which has the world's important natural gas and oil resources; which has an important place in meeting the energy needs of European countries and the People's Republic of China; which is rapidly developing and a candidate to be one of the potential global economic centers of the future, constitutes the stage of the New Great Game, which is played by many actors such as great powers, large and small states, international and supranational organizations, terrorist groups and multinational companies. This is the same area where the famous Great Game took place, describing the imperialist power struggle between Great Britain and the Russian Empire, in the 19th century. After the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, with the new states gaining their independence, the future of the region became open to different possibilities thus The Great Game, which is thought to have ended with the agreement signed between two hostile states in 1907 or the power struggle over the region started to rank among the top issues that occupied the agenda of international relations again at the end of the 20th century. Dünyadaki önemli doğal gaz ve petrol kaynaklarını barındıran, özellikle Avrupa ülkelerive Çin Halk Cumhuriyeti'nin enerji ihtiyacının karşılanmasında önemli yeri olan, hızla gelişen vegeleceğin potansiyel küresel ekonomik merkezlerinden olmaya aday, Orta Asya, Hazar Bölgesiile bu bölgelerin çevrelerini oluşturan coğrafi alandan meydana gelen Avrasya coğrafyası;günümüzde başta büyük güçler olmak üzere irili ufaklı devletler, uluslararası ve ulusüstüörgütler, terör grupları ve çokuluslu şirketler gibi çok sayıda aktör tarafından oynayan YeniBüyük Oyun'un sahnesini teşkil etmektedir. Burası 19. yüzyılda Büyük Britanya ve Rusİmparatorluğu arasında yaşanan emperyalist güç mücadelesini tarif eden meşhur BüyükOyun'un yaşandığı aynı bölgedir. 1907 yılında iki hasım devlet arası imzalanan antlaşmaylabirlikte son bulduğu düşünülen Büyük Oyun ve bölge üzerinde yaşanan güç mücadelesi, SovyetSosyalist Cumhuriyetler Birliği'nin dağılışıyla bağımsızlığını kazanan yeni devletlerle birliktebölgenin geleceğinin değişik ihtimallere açık hale gelmesi sonucu, 20. yüzyılın sonlarındayeniden uluslararası ilişkiler disiplininin gündemini meşgul eden konular arasında üst sıralardayer almaya başlamıştır. Eski ve yeni büyük oyunlar arası aktörler, çekişme alanları,mücadelenin kapsamı ve bağlam bakımından çeşitli farklılıklar bulunuyor olsa dahi temel olantek bir şey vardır: bu bölge yüzyıllardır dünyanın büyük güçlerinin çıkarları için büyük önemtaşımaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı tarihi Büyük Oyun ve günümüzde sürmekte olan Yeni BüyükOyun'u karşılaştırmak, benzerliklerini ortaya koymak ve yeni oyun eskiye göre çok daha büyükçaplı olsa da iki olgunun temel sebebinin aynı olduğunu ortaya çıkarmaktır.
