Abstract

The realization of women and dealing with their problems in Turkish literature starts with the beginning of Tanzimat. However, the process of intensive examining of this issue in different aspects goes to the end of the 1970’s. The women who are born in the in the early years of the Republic and receive education by taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the new system begin to move into the literary world. Therefore, the woman issue in Turkey occurs in the work of arts and is studied in different aspects. Examining women who are cast away as second sex and their problems, authors discuss women's individualization process rather than displaying them merely as a wife or mother. In this context, in Cemo, examined in this article, the woman issue is not directly handled but it is indirectly pointed out with other social problems of the period. Sheikh Said rebellions and the subsequent Dersim Events take place in the background of the novel one thing that is pointed out in the novel is that reforms and changes brought by the Republic did not reach every region of Anatolia and the other thing that is emphasized is the social problems coming with that fact.Especially, it can be criticized as to how the landlordism-slavery system in that period neglected the woman's attempt to exist in the patriarchal society.

Özet

Türk edebiyatında kadının farkına varılması ve sorunlarının işlenmeye başlaması Tanzimat’la başlar. Ancak bu konunun yoğun bir şekilde farklı yönleriyle işlenmesi yetmişli yılların sonunu bulur. Cumhuriyet’in ilk yıllarında dünyaya gelen ve yeni sistemin sunduğu imkânlardan yararlanarak öğrenim gören kadınların yetmişli yıllarda edebiyat dünyasına girmeye başlamasıyla Türkiye’de kadın sorunu farklı açılardan ele alınır ve eserlerde işlenir. Toplumsal hayatın her alanında ikinci plana itilen kadın sorununu irdeleyen yazarlar, onu eş ve anne rolünden çıkarıp birey olma çabası ile ele alırlar. Bu bakımdan edebî eserleri incelerken toplumsal olaylar, eserin oluşum süreci, yazarın statüsü ve ideolojisi, yazarlık mesleği, eserlerin tarihî ve sosyal içerikleri ekseninde incelemek belli başlı sorunsalların tespit edilmesine imkân verecektir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada ele alınan eser Cemo’da doğrudan kadın problematiği değil dönemin diğer toplumsal sorunlarıyla birlikte kadının toplumsal değerinin ihmal edilmiş olmasına dikkat çekilmiştir. 1945 yıllarında yazarın yazmayı düşündüğü romanının arka planında Şeyh Sait ayaklanmaları, beraberinde gelen Dersim Olayları yer almaktadır. Cumhuriyet’in getirdiği yenilik ve değişimlerin Anadolu’nun her bölgesine ulaşmaması ve beraberinde gelen toplumsal sorunlara dikkat çekilir. Özellikle dönemin bahsi geçen ağalık-kölelik sisteminin ataerkil toplumda kadının var olma çabasını da nasıl ihmal ettiği hususunda eleştirilebilir. Özellikle değişimlerin ilk yılları siyasî ve sosyal düzen etkisinde olurken önemli toplumsal meselelerinde ihmal edildiği görülebilmektedir.
