The Use of Hadiths Out of Hadith Sources and Their Analysis: The Case of Ravzatu’l-Ukûl

Abstract

In the understanding of Muslims, the Sunnah is life itself. In spite of all our problems and shortcomings, if we have some beauty that we have not lost, it is because of the traces of the Prophet’s (pbuh) blessed inheritance. There have been leaders who helped us accept these beauties. In addition to the companions of the Prophet (pbuh), these leaders have taken on different roles like a statesman, a professor, a sheikh of a lodge, a preacher, an imam and sometimes a literary man. These people apply the Prophet's (s.a.v) words and practices in their life and also transfer them through their books to us as advice and set them in our minds and hearts. Certainly, some of the works of our predecessors that contain these accumulations of knowledge have not reached our day because of different reasons, but many of them made it to our time. One of these works is Muḥammed b. Ġâzî el-Malatyavî’s Ravżatu’l-ʿuḳūl. He is an important scholar and statesmen who lived in Malatya during the period of Anatolian Seljuk State. The work contributed to the spread of goodness and beauty in the community by carrying out stories and poems of wisdom as well as verses from the Holy Quran and Hadiths of the Prophet (pbuh). In this study, the aim is to analyze the style in which the Hadiths are used in the mentioned work and to analyze the Hadith in terms of Hadith methodology.

Özet

Müslümanların anlayışında, sünnet hayatın kendisidir. Bütün olumsuzluklara rağmen kaybetmediğimiz birtakım güzelliklerimiz varsa bu Hz. Peygamber’in (s.a.v) yaptıklarında bize kalan kutlu mirasın izleridir. Bu güzelliklerin içimize sinmesini sağlayan yol önderleri olmuştur. Bunlar sahabenin yanı sıra bazen bir devlet adamı, bir müderris, bir dergâhın postnişini, bir vaiz, bir imam bazen de bir edip olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. İnsanlara yol gösteren bu önderler Hz. Peygamber’in (s.a.v) sözlerini, öğütlerini hayatlarında tatbik ettikleri gibi yazdıkları eserler aracılığı ile de nasihat olarak bizlere aktarmışlar, akıl ve gönül hafızamıza yerleştirmişlerdir. Hiç kuşkusuz bizlere önderlik eden ecdadımızın bu birikimlerini ihtiva eden eserlerin bir kısmı doğal olmayan nedenler ile günümüze intikal etmemişse de pek çoğu bize kadar ulaşmıştır. Bu eserlerden biri, Anadolu Selçuklu Devleti döneminde Malatya’da yaşamış olan önemli âlim ve devlet adamlarımızdan Muḥammed b. Ġâzî el-Malatyavî’nin yazmış olduğu nasihatname niteliğindeki Ravżatu’l-ʿuḳūl’dur. Eser, içinde hikayeler, meseller, hikmet içerikli şiirlerin yanında çok sayıda ayet ve hadislerden de nakiller yapılarak toplumda iyiliğin ve güzelliğin yayılmasına katkı sunmuştur. Bu çalışmamızda adı geçen eserde zikredilen hadislerin kullanım üslubunu ele alınması ve hadis ilmi açısından tahlili amaçlanmıştır.
