Determining the Economic Value of Benefiting from Trabzon Uzungol Nature Park for Recreational and Travel Purposes: Travel Costs Application

Abstract

This study aims to determine the economic value of the use of Uzungol Nature Park in Trabzon Province for recreational and tourism purposes. This research to determine the economic value of benefiting from Uzungol Nature Park for recreation and tourism purposes was done to compare the resulting benefit values. The main material of this study consists of a face-to-face survey conducted for this purpose with 117 people who visited Uzungol Nature Park at July-August 2012. Travel Cost Method was used. In this study to determine the economic value of Uzungol Natural Park. As model, internal layered structure- and cut-relieving endogenous poisson model and the negative binomial models were used. The necessary statistical analysis was done and the values of recreational and tourism purposes (surplus value) were determined. The number of annual visits was taken as the dependent variable while using this method. As for the independent variables, a total of 15 units as travel cost, visitor's age, sex, marital status, home ownership status, education, second job, annual income, social security, nature index, information index, travel distance, retirement issue, car ownership and status of coming from Istanbul or other provinces were used. In conclusion, being a male, owing a house, having social security and income ranging 1501-3000 TL boost annual visiting numbers. In contrast, less number of trips are associated with owing a otomobile and holders of high school education relative to all other education groups. The surplus value available for a person is 333,33 TL per trip. Due to the average annual number of visits per person to Uzungol Nature Park is 1,52 the annual surplus value makes 506,66 TL per person, and given that, on average, 200 000 people visit the Uzungol Nature Park in a year, the cost of using the resort for recreational and tourism purposes is calculated as 101 332 000 TL/ year respectively.

Bu çalışma, Trabzon İli Uzungöl Doğa Parkı'nın rekreasyonel ve turizm amaçlı kullanımının ekonomik değerini belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma alanı olarak seçilen Uzungöl Doğa Parkı'nda rekreasyon ve turizm amaçlarıyla yararlanmanın ekonomik değerinin belirlenmesi ve elde edilen yararlanma değerlerinin karşılaştırılması amacıyla 2012 yılında Temmuz-Ağustos aylarında parkı ziyaret eden kişilerle 117 anket yapılmıştır. Çalışmada Uzungöl Doğa Parkı'nın ekonomik değerini belirlemek için Seyahat Maliyeti Yöntemi (SMY) uygulanmıştır. Modelde içsel tabakalılık ve kesikliği giderici endogenous (içsel) poisson ve endogenous (içsel) negatif binomial modeller kullanılmıştır. Gerekli istatistiksel analizler yapılarak rekreasyonel ve turizm amaçlı kullanım değerleri (tüketici rantı) belirlenmiştir. Bu yöntemin kullanılmasında bağımlı değişken olarak yıllık ziyaret sayısı alınmıştır. Bağımsız değişkenler olarak seyahat maliyeti, ziyaretçinin yaşı, cinsiyeti, medeni hali, ev sahipliliği durumu, eğitimi, ikinci işi, yıllık geliri, sosyal güvencesi, doğa indeksi, bilgi indeksi, seyahat mesafesi, emekli olup olmaması, otomobil sahipliliği ve İstanbul'dan veya diğer illerden gelme durumu olmak üzere toplam 15 değişken kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda ziyaretçinin erkek olması, oturduğu evin kendine ait olması, sosyal güvencesinin olması, aylık gelirinin 1501-3000 TL aralığında olması, yıllık ziyaret sayısını artırdığı belirlenmiştir. Bunun yanında ziyaretçinin otomobilinin olması ve lise mezunu olması ziyaret sayısını azalttığı belirlenmiştir. Bir kişi için gezi başına tüketici rantı 333,33 TL olarak belirlenmiştir. Uzungöl Doğa Parkı'na ortalama yıllık ziyaret sayısı 1,52 olduğu için kişi başına yıllık tüketici rantı 506,66 TL olup, yılda ortalama olarak 200 000 kişinin ziyaret ettiği düşünüldüğünde Uzungöl Doğa Parkı'nın rekreasyonel ve turizm amaçlı kullanım bedeli 101 332 000 TL/yıl olarak hesaplanmıştır.
