Perinatal transmission of hepatit B virus in Erzurum

Abstract
The objective of this study was to asses the prevalance of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and fetal transmission.rate in Erzurum region. Two-hundred eighty-two pregnant women and their newborn infants were studied. In women HBsAg carrier rate of 6.3 percenl and HBeAg carrier rale of 1.1 percent were observed. Perinatal transmission rates were 50 and 100 percenl for HBsAg and HBeAg respectively. While the Anti HBs posilivily rate was 17.1 percent in bolli women and newborns, the Anti HBe was positive in 5.3 percenl of (he women and in 2.2 percenl of the newborns.
Özet
Erzurum bölgesinde gebelerde hepatit B yüzey antijeni (HBsAg) prevalansı ve fetal bulaşma oranını araştırmayı amaçlayan bu çalışmaya doğum için hastaneye yatan 282 gebe ve yenidoğan bebekleri dahil edildi. Bu gebelerde HBsAg taşıyıcılık oranı yüzde 6.3, HBeAg taşıyıcılık oraiıı yüzde 1.1; perinatal geçiş sıklığı HBsAg için yüzde 50, HBeAg için de yüzde 100 olarak saptandı. Anti HBs pozititliği hem gebelerde ve hem de bebeklerde yüzde 17.1 olarak bulunurken Anti HBe pozitifliği gebelerde yüzde 5.3, bebeklerde de yiixde 2.2 olarak bulundu.
