Frequency of autoimmune thyroidit in the patients with collagen tissue disease

Abstract

It is known that autoantibody roduction against several organs and tissues of organism was increased in the patients with collagen tissue diseases. Thyroid tissue exists among these target tissue too. As thyroiditis can occur alone, it can also seen together with both organo-specific and systemic autoimmune diseases. We detected abnormality associated with thyroid in 16 of 86 (%19) patients with collagen tissue diseases that we fallowed up. Thyroid antibodies was detected as positive in 9 of 16 (%56) patients with thyroid abnormality. Considering that clinical conditions was represented euthyroid in 9 patients (%56), subclinical hypothyroidism in 4 patients (%25) and subclinical hyperthyroidism in 3 patients (%20). It should be performed the tests associated with thyroid besides routinely performed tests in the follow up of the patients and if thyroiditis is present, appropriate treatment according to clinical condition should be administered.

Kollajen doku hastalığı bulunan kişilerde organizmanın birçok organ, doku ve hücrelerine karşı antikor yapımının arttığı bilinmektedir. Bu hedef dokular arasında tiroid dokusu da bulunmaktadır. Tiroidit tek başına oluşabileceği gibi hem organ-spesifik hem de sistemik otoimmün hastalıklar ile birlikte görülebilmektedir. Takip ettiğimiz kollajen doku hastalığı olan 86 hastanın 16'sında (%19) tiroidle ilgili patoloji tespit edildi. Tiroid patolojisi olan 16 hastanın dokuzunda (% 56) tiroid antikorları pozitif bulundu. Klinik durumlarına bakıldığında hastaların dokuzunda (% 56) ötroidi, dördünde (%25) subklinik hipotiroidi, üçünde de (% 20) subklinik hipertiroidi vardı. Kollajen doku hastalığı olan hastaların izleminde rutin olarak yapılan tetkik ve tahlillerin yanında tiroidle ilgili tetkikler de yapılmalı ve tiroidit tespit edildiğinde klinik duruma göre uygun tedavi yapılmalıdır.
