The Ontological Analysis of Ahmad Shawqi’s Majnunu Layla Play I

Abstract

Mecnu’nu Leyla is the second play, which is about pre and post İslamic Arabic history of poet and author Ahmet Şevki. Author wrote this sentimental play experienced sincere emotions densely in the context of Qays b. al-Mulawwah and Layla’s story. He added old traditions and customs of Period of Jahiliyyah, life in desert, feelings of people, political struggles in Omayyad’s period and belief that every poet has a gin which insipires him or her, and events to his play and thus he varied ontological structure of the known classical play. In this study, it is aimed to analyze the play “Majnunu Layla’’ in the lights of dramatic, artistic and ontological approaches.

Özet

Mecnûnu Leylâ tiyatrosu, şair ve edip Ahmed Şevkî’nin (1868-1932), İslam öncesi vesonrası Arap tarihini ele aldığı tiyatrolarının ikincisidir. Yazar, içten duyguların çok yoğunolarak yaşandığı bu sentimental tiyatrosunu, Kays b. el-Mulevvah ve Leylâ hikâyesiçerçevesinde yazmıştır. Oyuna Cahiliyye Dönemi’nin eski gelenek ve adetleri, çöldeki yaşam,insanların hissiyatı, Emeviler Dönemi’ndeki siyasî mücadeleler ve her şairin ona ilham verenbir cini olduğuna dair inanış ve olayları eklemiş, böylece bilinen klasik hikâyenin ontolojikyapısını çeşitlendirmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Mecnûnu Leylâ tiyatrosunun (Kahire, 1931)dramatik, sanatsal ve ontolojik açılardan incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
