INVESTIGATING OF WORKSHEETS BASED MODELLING INSTRUCTION BY PROSPECTIVE SCIENCE TEACHERS

FEN BİLGİSİ ÖĞRETMEN ADAYLARININ HAZIRLADIKLARI MODELLEMEYE DAYALI ETKİNLİK ÜRÜNLERİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate the suitability of the worksheets designed by prospective science teachers on the "Importance of Water for Living" and their understanding of the importance of water to living things. The case study research method was used in this research. The sample of the research was determined by the convenience sampling method. 36 prospective science teachers (4 men and 32 women), who studied in the second grade in the 2018-2019 academic year, participated in the elementary science education department of a state university's faculty of education. The six worksheets prepared by them were used as data collection tools in the research. Working with group members about the importance of water for living, they were asked to design a worksheet according to the cycle determined in the modelling based instruction method. The data obtained from the worksheets were analyzed through descriptive and content analyses. The worksheets were analyzed descriptively according to the determined modeling cycle. Information about the importance of water for living things in the worksheets designed by them was analyzed by content analysis method. The prospective science teachers, who prepared worksheets about the importance of water for living things, can be said to include many different information and concepts. In most of the worksheets designed by prospective science teachers participating in the study, they make structural matches with the basic thinking scheme; however, it was determined that they gave the subject and defined the prior knowledge section and made designs in accordance with other stages in the stages of experimenting and application of model to new situations.

Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı, fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının “Suyun Canlılar İçin Önemi” konusundatasarladıkları etkinliklerin modellemeye dayalı öğretim yöntemine uygunluğunun ve suyun canlılar içinönemi konusunda anlayışlarının incelenmesidir. Bu çalışmada durum araştırması yöntemi kullanılmıştır.Araştırmanın örneklemi uygun örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenmiştir. Araştırmaya bir devlet üniversitesinineğitim fakültesinin fen bilgisi öğretmenliği bölümünde 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılında ikinci sınıftaöğrenim gören 36 fen bilgisi öğretmen adayı (4 erkek ve 32 kadın) katılmıştır. Suyun canlılar için önemikonusunda fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarından grup üyeleriyle çalışarak modellemeye dayalı öğretimyönteminde belirlenen döngüye göre birer etkinlik tasarlamaları istenmiştir. Fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarıtarafından hazırlanan altı etkinlik araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Etkinliklerden eldeedilen veriler betimsel ve içerik analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Etkinliklerin belirlenen modellemedöngüsüne göre betimsel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Tasarlanan etkinliklerdeki suyun canlılar için önemikonusuna yönelik bilgiler ise içerik analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Tasarlanan etkinliklerde suyuncanlılar için önemi konusunda birçok farklı bilgi ve kavramlara yer verildiği söylenebilir. Araştırmayakatılan fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının tasarladıkları etkinliklerin çoğunda temel düşünce şeması ileyapısal eşleştirmeleri yaptıkları; fakat giriş kısmında konu ile tanımsal bilgiler verdikleri ve deney yapma,yeni duruma uygulama aşamalarında ise diğer aşamalara uygun tasarımlar yaptıkları belirlenmiştir.
