Abstract
Religious philosophers never doubt the ability to talk about God in the traditional sense However, the logical positivists, in the twentieth century, rejected the discourse of religion and metaphysics, and named them as meaningless expressions. The logical positivists see the science as a significant guide for use of language and analysed meaningful and meaningless statements and referred to the criteria of verifiability criterion. Conceptual analysts focused on use of religious statements. According to them, religious and metaphysical expressions, used in a context of meaning, express a meaning. Conceptual analysts moved from “language games” developed by Wittgenstein in his the second period and argued religious expressions have got their logic. In this article we will examine these trends.
