Abstract

The concept of al-Qadar (Fate) is one of the most important terms which hasbeen at the center of debates in Islamic thought history. After the death of ProphetMuhammed (P.B.U.H), the conflicts that were happned between Muslims hasconbtributed religious and political dimensions to this concept. In the Umayyadperiod, the concept of al-Qadar used by politicians to to ensure the legitimacy oftheir governments. In this way, the Islamic society were not allowed to critique ofthe administration of the Umayyad. Scholars of that period like al-Hasan al-Basri,Ma’bad al-Juhani, Ghaylan al-Dimashqi opposed the mentality of the Umayyadsand they rejected the fate concepts which do not allow the freedom of the will ofsociety. Their efforts set the groundwork for the emergence of the Libertarian trendsin the later periods.

Özet

Kader kavramı, İslam düşünce tarihinde tartışmaların merkezinde yer alanönemli kavramlardan biridir. Hz. Peygamber’in vefatında sonra Müslümanlararasında meydana gelen çatışmalar bu kavrama siyasi ve itikadi boyutlar ka- zandırmıştır. Emevîler döneminde kader kavramı, onların yönetimlerinin kabuledilmesine katkı sağlayan dini bir argüman olarak kullanılmıştır. Bu sayede top- lumun Emevî idaresini sorgulaması engellenmiştir. Hasan el-Basrî, Mabed el-Cü- henî ve Gaylan ed-Dımeşkî başta olmak üzere, dönemin bazı alimleri Emevîlerinbu düşünce yapısına muhalefet etmiş, toplumun irade hürriyetini elinden alankader anlayışlarını reddetmişlerdir. Onların bu çabaları sonraki dönemlerde öz- gürlükçü akımların doğmasına zemin hazırlamıştır.
