Abstract
SALAFI -SHIITE TENSION IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND TURKEY'S ATTITUDE Absract: The background of Shia-Sunni/Salafi conflict, one of the problems can not be solved in Islamic thought, emerged at the nearly beginning of the history of Islam. During the first period while center of gravity of the competition was between Sunnism and Shiism today the conflict axis of Islamic political thought seems to have shifted to Shiite-Salafi conflict as a result of intensive Salafi activities. Salafis are of the opinion that all other movements and sects are non-Muslim moving from that they described themselves as defender of pristine first era of Islam. The widespread dominant belief that the Shiites think generally fed from these claims even though they don't conduct a sharp distinction as salafis did. Iran and Saudi Arabia are not only representatives of the polarization which representing two radical ends of Islam but also supporters. Turkey has been pointing out that regional state must prevent the crisis based on sect to emerge the peace and stability in this region. In this paper, Iran-Saudi Arabia axes competition and the attitude of Turkey on this issue is examined
