The ways of evaluating themselves of students high schools and the factors affecting them

Abstract

This research was aimed to investigate how students studying at Edirne Central High Schools evaluate themselves when they compare themselves with other people and what the factors affecting this situation are.7847 students studying at Edirne Central High Schools constituted the scope of the research. The study was done on 786 students chosen by the rank sample method. In the research, Information Form that questions the students’ descriptive characteristics and Social Comparison Scale were used. Cronbach’s Alpha value of Social Comparison Scale was found as 0.85 in this research. Data were evaluated with number, percentage, mean (standard deviation), student t, variation analysis and Tukey test on computer by using SPSS 10.0 program. It was found that when the high school students’ parents’ education level decreased, economic situation and inter-personal relationships were bad they had some problems with the integration between healthy life activities and daily lives, they evaluate themselves negatively in the comprise of themselves with others.

Bu araştırmada Edirne merkezindeki liselerde okuyan gençlerin, kendilerini başka insanlarla kıyasladığında nasıl değerlendirdiği ve bu durumu etkileyen etmenlerin neler olduğunu araştırılmak amaçlanmıştır.Araştırmanın evrenini Edirne Merkez Liselerinde okuyan 7847 öğrenci oluşturdu. Çalışma, tabakalı örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 786 öğrenci üzerinde yapıldı. Araştırmada, öğrencilerin tanımlayıcı özelliklerini sorgulayan Bilgi Formu ve Sosyal Karşılaştırma Ölçeği (SKÖ) kullanıldı. Sosyal Karşılaştırma Ölçeği’nin bu araştırmada Cronbach’s alpha değeri 0.85 bulundu. Veriler, bilgisayarda SPSS 10.0 paket programı kullanılarak sayı, yüzdelik, ortalama (standart sapma), student-t testi , varyans analizi (ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis) ve Tukey testi ile değerlendirildi.Araştırmada, lise öğrencilerinin ebeveyn eğitim düzeyi düştükçe, ekonomik durumları ve kişilerarası ilişkileri bozuldukça, sağlıklı yaşam aktivitelerini günlük yaşamlarına entegrasyonda sorunlar yaşadıkça kendilerini başkaları ile karşılaştırırken olumsuz değerlendirdikleri bulundu (p
