Abstract

This definitive research was carried out to determine the social adaptation problems of the children with hearing impaired and to compare these data with socio-demographic characteristics. The study includes 50 children at or above the age of 13 who are trained and educated at the Erzurum Dede Korkut Primary School for Children with Hearing impaired. All of the children were included in the study without using sampling method. The data were collected through a questionnaire to determine the socio-demographic characteristics of the children with hearing impaired and their social adaptation problems. In the evaluating of the data percentage methods, x2, Fisher's x2 tests were used. It has been found out that 74% of the children with hearing impaire who were included in this study are in 13-15 age group and that 68% of them are male. It has also been determined that 42% of the children with hearing impaired have been using hearing aid and 58% of them have known lip-reading.A total of 81% of the children using hearing aid have intimate relations with the people around. Some suggestions have been made to the issue in the light of the results obtained.

Özet

Tanımlayıcı nitelikte planlanan araştırma işitme engelli çocukların toplumsal uyum sorunlarını incelemek ve sosyo-demografik özelliklerle karşılaştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Erzurum Dede Korkut İşitme Engelliler İlköğretim okulunda eğitim ve öğretim gören 13 yaş ve üzerindeki 50 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Örnekleme yönetimine gidilmeden evrenin tamamı araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Veriler işitme engelli öğrencilerin sosyo demografik Özelliklerini ve toplumsal uyum sorunlarım belirlemek için oluşturulan bir soru formu aracılığ ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde yüzdelik, Ki-kare, Fisher's Ki-kare testleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamına alınan işitme engelli öğrencilerin %74'ünün 13-15 yaş grubunda, %68 'inin erkek olduğu saptanmıştır. İşitme engelli öğrencilerin %42'inin işitme cihazı kullandığı, %58'inin dudak okumayı bildiği saptanmış, işitme cihazı kullanan öğrencilerin de %81'inin insanlarla kaynaşabildikleri belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda bazı öneriler getirilmiştir.
