An Educational Study on Aamir Khan's Movies: A Qualitative Investigation of 3 Idiots and Taare Zameen

Abstract
This study aims to provide an educational investigation of 3 Idiots, produced in 2009 and directed by Aamir Khan, and of Taare Zameen Par, produced in 2007 and directed jointly by Amole Gupte, Ram Madhvani and Aamir Khan. This study employed the quantitative case study method to investigate both the educational messages in 3 Idiots and Taare Zameen Par and the reception of these messages by education professionals. Towards that end, opinions of educational professionals were collected. Additionally, the authors analyzed educational dialogs and educational scenes in both movies. The study found that both movies are of significance for their educational messages concerning the education system and the field of education in their emphasis on individual differences and their criticism of rote learning. It may be of benefit in producing a paradigm shift in education if these and similar movies are considered to be teaching materials.
Özet
Bu çalışmada Aamir Khan tarafından yönetilen 2009 yılı yapımı 3 Idiots ve Aamir Khan'ın Amole Gupte ve Ram Madhvani ile yönetmenliği paylaştığı 2007 yılı yapımı Taare Zameen Par filmlerinin eğitimsel açıdan incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada 3 Idiots ve Taare Zameen Par filmlerinde yer alan eğitimsel mesajların neler olduğu ve bu mesajların eğitimciler tarafından nasıl değerlendirildiği nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması deseni kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla her iki filmin değerlendirilmesinde eğitimcilerin görüşlerine başvurulmuş, ayrıca her iki filmin içerdiği eğitimsel diyaloglar ve eğitimsel sahneler araştırmacılar tarafından analiz edilerek ortaya koyulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda her iki filmin de başta bireysel farklılıklara dikkat çekme ve ezberci eğitim sistemine eleştiri olmak üzere eğitim ve eğitim sistemine ilişkin önemli eğitimsel mesajlar içeren filmler olduğu belirlenmiştir. Buna benzer filmler eğitim materyali olarak değerlendirilmesi eğitimde paradigma değişiminde faydalı olabilir.
