Abstract
As the result of the Second World War with an increased desire tocreate a new European worldview, experimental trends began to gain momentum in the context of new linguistic studies. Concrete poetry (Konkrete Poesie) is an important literary genre that became popular during the period in question. Concrete poetry is an unusual type of poetry, which aims to use visual as well as poetic words. German poets constituted the European wing of the Poesie of Konktere, which was accepted in the German literature in the 1950s. One of the most important figures in the spread of this type of poetry is the Swiss Eugen Gomringer. Concrete poetry emerged in the 1950s as a result of the caotic social and emotional atmosphere after the Second World War and became increasingly common. It has been used effectively in the transference of collective memory/experiences rather than merely including some individual stories. In terms of expressing the reactions to the deterioration of the language caused by the Nazis, it is also considered as a reaction to the uses for such practices. In this study, it is aimed to examine this kind of poetry which became widespread in Germany after the Second World War in the example of Eugen Gomringer.
