The investigation of the transverse strength of various acrylic resins materials polymerized with different polymerization processes

Abstract
Polymerization process has an important effect on the mechanical properties of acrylic base materials. In this study, after various heat- polymerized acrylic resins, used in dentistry, had been polimerized with different processes, the transverse strength of the samples was investigated in varying storage medium. For this purpose, acrylic resins samples of 65x10x2.5 mm. dimensions appropriate to A.D.A. 12 specification were prepared. Their transverse strengths have been tested in Hounsfield test machine. The data obtained were evaluated statistically. It was determined that the type of acrylic, the process of polymerization, and the storage medium were very significant.
Özet
Polimerizasyon işlemi, kaide akrillerinin mekanik özellikleri üzerinde önemli bir etkiye sahiptir. Bu çalışmada, dişhekimliğinde kullanılan değişik marka ısı ile polimerize olan akrilik rezinler, farklı yöntemlerle polimerize edildikten sonra, örneklerin kırılma mukavemetleri, değişik saklama ortamlarında incelendi. Bu amaçla, ADA nın 12 nolu spesifikasyonuna uygun 65x10x2.5 mm boyutlarında akrilik rezin örnekler hazırlandı. Hounsfield test makinasmda kırılma mukavemetleri tesbit edildi. Elde edilen veriler istatiksel olarak değerlendirildi. Akrilik türünün, polimerizasyon yönteminin ve saklanan ortamın çok önemli olduğu saptandı.
