Test state anxiety levels of the students attending Atatürk University Physical Education and Sport special ability test

Abstract
Aim of the study is to determine state anxiety levels of the students who attend Atatürk University special ability test. The study was applied during the warming-up session, 30 minutes before the students entered 2010-2011 academic year special ability tests. In the study, 7 questions of the questionnaire comprise personal information (background) questionnaire. Also a Continuous State Anxiety subscale was performed. State anxiety scale (SAS) was developed to evaluate the feelings of the students that were just felt at the test time. SAS consists of 30 items and it is a Likert-type scale ranked among 1 to 4. 265 volunteer students of whom 75 are female and 190 are male, from total of 645 students, who attended special ability test, attended the questionnaire. In the assessment of the questionnaire, frequency and percentage distributions of all the answers given to each item of every question were analyzed by SPSS 16.00 program and used and also t-test was used. In the end of the study, it was mentioned that most of the students were a little bit stressful, anxious, nervous, and excited whereas some of the students were quite comfortable, quite cheerful, quite self-esteemed.
Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, Atatürk Üniversitesi beden eğitimi ve spor özel yetenek sınavına giren öğrencilerin durumluluk kaygı düzeylerini belirlemektir. Çalışma 2010-2011 yılı özel yetenek sınavlarına girmeden 30 dakika önce, ısınma sürecinde uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada anketin 7 sorusunu kişisel bilgi formu oluşturmaktadır. Ayrıca Durumluk Sürekli Kaygı alt ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Durumluk kaygı ölçeği (DKÖ) sadece o anda hissedilenleri ölçmek üzere geliştirilmiştir. DKÖ 20 maddeden oluşan ve 1–4 arası derecelenen Likert tipi bir ölçektir. Ankete özel yetenek sınavına giren 645 öğrenciden gönüllü olarak 75 kız ve 190 erkek olmak üzere toplam 265 öğrenci katılmıştır. Anketlerin değerlendirilmesinde SPSS 16,00 programıyla analiz edilerek her sorunun tüm maddelere verilen cevapların sıklık ve yüzdelik dağılımları ve t testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, sınava giren öğrencilerin çoğunluğu biraz gergin, kaygılı, sinirli ve heyecanlı olduklarını belirtirken, bazı öğrencilerin de çok rahat, çok keyifli, kendine güveni olduğunu belirtmişlerdir.
