A research on the public awareness level about the functions of forest resources: Eskişehir sample

Abstract

In this research, public awareness about the functions of forest resources has aimed to reveal. Necessary to achieve this g oal, d ata f rom d ifferent s trata o f s ociety who l ive i n t he p rovince o f E skisehir r andomly selected 480 people with face-to-face surveys were obtained. About the functions of forest resources for the measurement of awareness of those who participated in the survey with the help of Likert rating scale was made. In conclusion, the participants o f t he survey 3 ,8% o f low, 2 5,8% o f t he medium a nd 70,4%’s high level of awareness regarding t he f unctions o f f orest r esources t hat h ave b een i dentified. I t i s a lso determined that this awareness level of people is varied according to their socio-economic features such as marital status, age, education and household income levels.

Özet

Bu araştırmada, toplumun orman kaynaklarının işlevleriyle ilgili bilinç düzeyinin ortaya konulması hedeflenmiştir. Bu amaca ulaşmak için; Eskişehir ilinde toplumun değişik kesimlerinden rastgele seçilen 480 kişiyle yüz yüze anket çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu kapsamda, ankete katılanların orman kaynaklarının işlevleriyle ilgili bilinç düzeylerinin ölçülmesinde üçlü Likert ölçeğini esas alan sorular kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, orman kaynaklarının işlevlerine ilişkin olarak ankete katılanların %3,8’inin düşük, %25,8’inin orta ve %70,4’ünün yüksek bilinç düzeyine sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, bu bilinç düzeyinin insanların cinsiyet, yaş, eğitim ve aylık gelir durumları gibi sosyo-ekonomik özelliklerine göre de farklılık gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir
